Heart of a Leader – Part 2
A Leader Loves God’s Word as Christ Loves God’s Word
In the book of Luke there is a passage that describes a time when Jesus was a little boy and He went missing from His parents. It took three days for them to find their son. And when they did, they found Him the temple listening to and questioning the big name teachers of His day. Listen to Mary and Joseph’s exchange with Him after He had been found.
Luke 2:48-49 When His parents saw Him, they were astonished. His mother said to Him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.” “Why were you searching for me?” He asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”
At a young age, Jesus knew the importance of hearing and studying His Father’s Word. And if you continue to read the rest of this passage, it gives you an outcome for continued exposure to God’s Word – Jesus “grew in wisdom and in favor with God and all the people.”
As leaders, that should be our goal to grow “in wisdom and favor with God and all people.” Jesus showed us the map for this growth plan, a love for God’s Word. And not just a love for His Word, but a desire to study it and apply it to our lives.
My prayer for you is that your passion for God’s Word grows daily and that your wisdom and favor increase with it!
