My wife and I went to eat at what is considered the best BBQ in St. Louis today for lunch. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint! The ribs were excellent. The chicken was great. The sides were tasty. And the service was fantastic. The restaurant itself was clean and neatly decorated.
And if that was not enough, the owner came in while we were eating and came right up to us. He asked how our experience was, shook my hand, and gave me a heartfelt “Thanks” for eating at his restaurant. This restaurant is doing it right! We left pleasantly full (ok maybe a little too full), smiling, and feeling good. We will definitely be eating there again!
Another thing that made this such an great experience is that the entire staff worked as a team and they all contributed to our experience. From the person who let us in, the waiter who spoke to us as we stood in line, the lady who took our order, & the waiter who checked on us while we were meeting; they all made us feel welcomed and special. And all of this occurred way before the owner showed up.
As a Pastor, it is my desire to see people who are guests leave a church service with the same overall experience as Ginger and I had at this place – full, smiling, & feeling good. When guests come to our church we all play a part. From the person in the parking lot, the host, the usher, the child check in worker, and the person sitting next to a guest during service. It is all of our jobs to love on the guests that God sends our way.
So it is my prayer, that we as a church function as one. Reaching out with love to those who are new to us.
