Coaching is a great tool to help people get the most of their lives. However, you may have questions as to what happens while meeting with a coach.
Well, there are approaches to coaching that are designed to help a person get where they want to go. The following is a breakdown of what the coaching process could look like…
1. Explore- Before the coach and client meet, the client needs to figure out what the client wants to talk about. Tools can be given to the client to help with this process. This makes the session very personal and helps maintain the client as setting the agenda for the sessions.
2. Assess- Now that we have a topic for discussion, we must define where the client is right now by assessing their current situation. This helps both the coach and the client have a better understanding of what resources are available.
3. Cast- We have our topic, we have our resources- now we take a look at where the client wants to go. This is where the coach comes alongside of the client and helps him/her get a snapshot of what future they desire. After all if you don’t know where you are going, how will you know it if you get there?
4. Observe- We are making real progress now, but as with any plan, obstacles are bound to happen. And observing is where the coach and the client work through the daily challenges that can keep the client from hitting their mark. This is a crucial step in the success of bringing the ideal future to life.
Once this process is complete, the process can be repeated with another area picked by the client or the client can move on. There is more to coaching than just this, but it lends itself as a rough blueprint.
