Why Go Off The Grid?

My family likes to go camping, so every year or so we go to a place in Missouri. This is a very low key camp ground. There is no pool, no play ground area for the kids and no scheduled activities by the owners. It does have a little store that sells a few camp ground themed items. However, for the most part, they are simply providing you with a plot of ground for your tent.

So you may be asking, why do you like to go there? We go there because of the lack of man made amenities. We feel that with so many things pulling for our attention that it is nice to live a simpler life for a few days. We give up our TVs, Facebook, Twitter, internet, and the other various electronics that demand our time. We are just too busy! In exchange, we gain a beautiful river, camp fire, sandy beaches, and nothing crying out for our time and attention.

We use this time to unwind and relax. In fact, detox may be a better word. A person does not realize the impact of busyness on his life until he goes without it for a few days. I am one of the guilty parties. There are periods in my life where I find myself coming and going. Getting away from it all gives me a chance to reconnect with myself and my family. It gives me a chance to recharge my battery and allow stress to just fall off of me. There are so many other benefits, but that would make this post far too long.

I highly recommend that you take the time to unplug yourself from all of the busyness and spend some down time. You will be a better all around person if you do.

So, how is your schedule? Are you do for a time of going off the grid?
