Gratitude

It is only with gratitude that life becomes rich. Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Letters and Papers from Prison.

Gratitude is defined as the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. Let’s be honest, we’ve all had times in our lives where we focus solely on what we are lacking.

When our thoughts head down that path, our feelings soon follow. Depression, anxiety, and fear can become our daily companions. Gratitude can help. When we express thanksgiving for what’s in our lives, our thoughts take us down a different path – a better path.

Happiness, hope and inspiration will start to show up in our lives. Helping us to see life differently – one from a more positive stance.

Application: 1 Week Challenge  

  1. Every day physically write out what you’re thankful for in your life. 
  2. As you do this, track your thoughts and feelings. 
  3. Note the impact this has at the end of the week.

If you want to better your life, expressing gratitude is a great start.
